Burning 12 hours on One Sequence

About This Video

Burning 12 hours on one sequence. Step one: go get all the supplies. Camera shop, batteries, chargers. Four hours to charge. Wide angle, macro, good enough. With the macro lens on this GoPro, the focus distance is 3 inches, and a Post-it note is a 3-inch square, so Van made a little ruler thing. Then build a frame. Then frame the camera. Then realize the big black thing is part of framing the camera. Twelve hours on one sequence, and the video is an argument against the myth that good content is easy to make.

a lot of people on patreon asked me to make a video about what it takes to make videos start to finish but that's too

hard so I'm going to make a video about all of the things you need to do just to make this one little sequence that I

want to make and step one I got to go get all the supplies

first stop is the camera shop second stop these and these it's first thing in the morning I got to get this on a charger I got to let it charge for 4 hours time is

[Music] it [Music] wide [Music] angle macro and good [Music] enough I'm figuring out the frame on the camera keep your eye on the clock this is a

tedious task so with the macro lens on this GoPro the focus distance is 3 in So within 3 inch it's in focus and

lucky for me a Post-It note is a 3-in square so I just made this little like ruler thing and right there there it's

in [Music] Focus that's the center of the frame I got to build a frame so I'm going to do time lapse so that I can enjoy myself

without having to fuss over cameras I am still framing the camera this whole making the big black thing is part of framing the camera

process [Music] this is hard to explain so I won't but I need to crop this to figure out how big to draw the map under here so that I

won't um crop the map okay so I cropped it that's just the GoPro

screen and then when I take the GoPro away it's about the one two

three that's the frame right there so now I know how big to draw the map of

Texas this is where the puzzle gets very precise and I have to be very careful because I'm about to commit to how I

draw on this thing so there might be some video silence cuz I can't make the

this and then uh make the this thing as well I have to do this whole next bit

with the projector Etc simply because I don't know how to draw well

[Music] okay that took an entire working day and now I'm ready to to do the [Applause] [Music] effect this is just a practice job the final version is more sophisticated [Applause]
