What Is The Build?
Van makes a thing. The Build is the anchor segment of most episodes: a bench-scale construction project shot in Van's workshop, with every material choice and decision narrated as it happens. Van designs with his hands and uses AI as a design partner, not a replacement for physical work.
The builds are real production tools. They solve problems Van actually has. The segment demonstrates the show's core thesis: using AI to live more analog. Not less technology, but different technology, where the computer disappears and the tool serves the hand.
Every Build
Multicam Switcher Cart
Van constructs a rolling multicam video production cart from scratch. He used ChatGPT to design the configuration. Replacing every software menu with a physical button or cable connectireplacing every software menu with a physical button or cable connection. The cart runs on a Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro as the central switcher, with multiple camera feeds, a monitor stack, and all routing done through hardware. No menus. No touchscreen. The computer disappears.
